What is the veterinary online collection

The Veterinary Online Collection is an online archive in which teachers from different European Veterinary schools can deposit their digital teaching materials, so that it is openly available in digital form for other teachers from participating faculties. The repository operates at a disciplinary level across several partner institutions – the University of Utrecht (UU), the University of Copenhagen (UC) and the University of Helsinki (UH).

One of the main benefits of establishing this repository is that it enables teachers to have easy access to materials generated by teachers at their own and  at other faculties. In addition, it provides a long-term archive. Utrecht University is responsible for the long-term maintenance of the digital resources and for making the resources available for the users.

This guide follows relevant recommendations made by Pappalardo et al. (2007) on how to develop an digital repository (https://eprints.qut.edu.au/9671/ ) and provides information on the repository itself, the requirements teaching materials must meet before they can be deposited in the repository, and instructions on how to upload materials to the repository. In addition some tips and trics are given for the construction of different types of digital teaching materials (videos, weblectures and elearning modules).
